What is the salary for summer associates? Summer associate salaries vary by location and year. In 2009, the Summer Associate salaries are:

Does Dorsey pay for travel expenses for summer associates? Yes. We reimburse summer associates for travel (less applicable taxes) to and from the city in which they are spending their summer.

Does Dorsey provide housing for summer associates? We do not pay for summer associate housing, but we do assist summer associates in locating housing.

Do you allow split summers? Requests for split summers are considered on a case-by-case basis. In 2009, four of Dorsey's summer associates split their summer with another law firm.

How long is your summer program? Although it varies a bit by office, our summer program is typically twelve weeks.

In addition to billable hours, what factors are considered in making associate bonus decisions? Pro bono contributions, market factors, firm citizenship and leadership, business development, and other factors are considered in making associate bonus determinations.

Do pro bono hours count towards the billable hours requirement? Yes, up to 50 hours of pro bono time will count towards meeting the billable hours requirement. For associates who exceed their hours requirement, up to 100 additional hours of pro bono time will be counted in the calculation of the productivity bonus.

Does business development count towards the associate bonus? Yes. Business development is one factor considered in making discretionary bonus determinations.

Does the firm pay for relocation for associates? Yes, we pay for reasonable relocation expenses for associates.
