Dorsey Named Winner of 2009 Alfred P. Sloan Award for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility

MINNEAPOLIS – (September 29, 2009) – International law firm Dorsey & Whitney LLP announced today that it has been named a winner of the 2009 Alfred P. Sloan Award for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility. The award recognizes the best flexible and effective work practices and policies in the nation and is being given to businesses and organizations in the Twin Cities for the first time in 2009.

Applications are evaluated in a two-step process that measures an employer’s workplace flexibility programs, policies and culture against national data from Families and Work Institute’s National Study of Employers, and then validates these with employee input. Employers that rank in the top 20% of employers when compared to these national norms are selected as finalists and the final round involves a confidential survey of 250 employees. The selection of winners is based on a score that combines employer and employee responses.

“We are honored to be recipients of the Sloan Award in its inaugural year in the Twin Cities”, said Marianne D. Short, Dorsey’s Managing Partner. “A flexible work environment is a key element in the integration of life and work for all of our people. Our mission of providing superior client service is supported by the effort we have made to create a flexible workplace. This award acknowledges our efforts.”
