Shari L. J. Aberle is a partner in the Trial Group where she represents clients in all types of complex commercial litigation, including mortgage and finance related disputes, consumer fraud, contract disputes, trademark infringement and unfair competition, employment discrimination, class actions, and appellate advocacy. She also serves on the firm’s Technology Advisory Committee and is a co-chair of the firm’s 2011 Corporate Counsel Symposium planning committee.
Ms. Aberle is also a member of Dorsey’s Electronic Discovery Practice Group and in that capacity regularly presents at client roundtable discussions on various topics surrounding E-Discovery, including Litigation Holds, Web 2.0, and the Federal Rules of Evidence. She is also a member of the Sedona Conference Working Group on Electronic Document Retention and Production. In addition, Ms. Aberle regularly advises clients with respect to drafting and implementation of document retention policies.
Ms. Aberle also advises clients with respect to First Amendment and defamation matters, as well as inquiries under the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act and Freedom of Information Act. She is an editor of the Minnesota State law section of the Media Law Resource Center's 50-State Survey, as well as the Eighth Circuit section of the Reporter's Privilege Compendium.
Ms. Aberle also has a commitment to helping Dorsey meet the Pro Bono Challenge, and has worked on a variety of pro bono matters during her years at the firm, including representing along with a team of attorneys a wrongfully-convicted man through the Innocence Project, acting as a Special Assistant State Public Defender in representing a defendant on a criminal appeal, and representing battered women in obtaining orders for protection through the Chrysalis Safety Project.
