International law firm Dorsey & Whitney LLP announced today that Chris Bercaw, a partner in the Firm’s Minneapolis office has been named the recipient of the Distinguished Service Award by the Minnesota Justice Foundation (MJF). The award is based on Mr. Bercaw’s career-long pro bono efforts on behalf of those involved in immigration and asylum issues and his mentoring of others who work on these types of matters. The Minnesota Justice Foundation annually recognizes those in the legal community who have dedicated significant efforts on a pro bono basis to those who do not have access to needed legal services on their own.
Commenting on the announcement, Mr. Bercaw said ”I am very grateful to MJF for this award. I am privileged to be able to work with refugees and their families and help them navigate our complex immigration system.”
Perry Wilson, Chair of Dorsey’s Pro Bono Committee noted, “Chris is a terrific example of the kind of lawyers that make Dorsey a special place to practice law. He has been a tireless advocate for those who need access to the legal system and we applaud his efforts and the recognition he has received.”
